Flagstaff Family Food Center
Join us for Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest single-day food drive! This volunteer shift supports our local efforts in Flagstaff to collect, sort, and distribute thousands of pounds of donated food to neighbors facing hunger. Volunteers will help receive food collected by letter carriers as they arrive at the post office, and sort and inspect donations. It’s a hands-on opportunity to make an immediate impact in our community. Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing are recommended, as you’ll be on your feet and lifting boxes or bags.
• Support USPS: Support the success of the food drive by assisting with food collection, sorting, and packing. • Support Flagstaff Family Food Center: Ensure Flagstaff Family Food Center has enough inventory to continue its mission • Maintain Organization: Keep donation-intake stations tidy, and easy to navigate for both volunteers and postal workers. • Promote Safety: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe experience for clients, volunteers, and staff. • Support Teamwork: Communicate clearly and work together to keep the line moving smoothly and meet the needs of everyone we serve.

Your safety is our priority! Please remember the following while working in Warehouse Distribution: • Check in with a supervisor when you arrive and before you leave. • Wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes—no sandals. Gloves are available for handling boxes. • Lift safely: bend at your knees, keep loads close, and ask for help with anything over 40 lbs. • Keep aisles and walkways clear of boxes or debris. Do not stack boxes above shoulder height. • Only use equipment (like pallet jacks or carts) if you have been trained. • Wash your hands before handling food and after breaks. Don’t handle food if you’re sick. • Store heavier items low, lighter items high. Never climb shelves—use a ladder or step stool. • Know where exits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits are located. Report accidents or unsafe conditions immediately. • Stay home if you are unwell. When in doubt, ask a supervisor. Thanks for keeping our warehouse safe for everyone!
To help us serve our community efficiently, please remember our 24-hour cancellation policy for all volunteer shifts: • If you need to cancel a scheduled shift, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. • You can cancel by logging into your volunteer account, emailing, or calling our office. • Last-minute cancellations make it challenging to fill your spot and can impact our ability to serve those in need. • If you have an emergency or sudden illness, let us know as soon as possible—your health comes first.
