Flagstaff Family Food Center
The Flagstaff Family Food Center’s kitchen events provide hot, nutritious meals to anyone in need, no questions asked. These community meals are served daily in a welcoming, safe environment where volunteers and staff work together to prepare, serve, and clean up. The kitchen is a hub of compassion and connection, offering not just food but also dignity and support to those experiencing hardship. Through these efforts, the center helps fight hunger and build community one meal at a time.
Project Goals for Dinner Food Prep & Service • Serve Nutritious Meals: Ensure every guest receives a hot, well-balanced dinner—whether dining in or picking up from the to-go window. • Foster a Welcoming Atmosphere: Greet each guest warmly and treat everyone with dignity and respect, creating a sense of community in our dining space. • Maintain High Standards of Food Safety: Follow all food handling and sanitation protocols to keep meals safe and wholesome for our guests. • Support Efficient Service: Work together as a team to keep meal service organized, timely, and responsive to guest needs. • Uphold Cleanliness: Keep the dining and serving areas clean and inviting throughout the event and assist with cleanup at the end of service. • Respect Privacy: Maintain the confidentiality and dignity of all guests, providing support and information discreetly when needed. By working toward these goals, we create not just a meal, but a caring experience for every person we serve.

To keep everyone safe and ensure a positive experience for our guests, please remember the following during dinner food prep and service: • Wash your hands thoroughly before starting, after handling raw foods, and after breaks. • Wear gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods and change them regularly. • Wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes—no sandals or open-toed footwear. • Use hairnets or hats to keep hair secured while working near food. • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines: Keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and avoid cross-contamination by using separate utensils for different tasks. • Report any illness or open wounds to a supervisor before your shift; do not handle food if you are unwell. • Keep serving areas clean and tidy—wipe spills immediately, and keep pathways clear. • Handle equipment and knives carefully. Only use kitchen tools you have been trained to use. • Know where first aid kits and emergency exits are located. • If you have any safety concerns or see something unsafe, let a supervisor know right away. Your attention to these safety practices helps us protect our guests, each other, and our mission. Thank you for helping us serve safely!
24-Hour Cancellation Policy Reminder To help us serve our community efficiently, please remember our 24-hour cancellation policy for all volunteer shifts: • If you need to cancel a scheduled shift, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. • You can cancel by logging into your volunteer account, emailing, or calling our office. • Last-minute cancellations make it challenging to fill your spot and can impact our ability to serve those in need. • If you have an emergency or sudden illness, let us know as soon as possible—your health comes first. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep our programs running smoothly!
